Asari threatens The North over Attack on Jonathan in Katsina

Leader of Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has threatened that the attack on the convoy of president Goodluck Jonathan by some irate youths in the Kastina State during a campaign rally on Tuesday, would be reciprocated in the Niger Delta in due course.

Asari warned the Igbo and the members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, who currently reside in the North to return home as they would have themselves to blamed should anything happen to them.

He said, “There is an established pattern of pre and post election violence in the North. In the 50s when late Obafemi Awolowo was campaigning in the North, he went with helicopters and he was mocked. People said he was flying over the houses and peeping their wives. That has continued and everywhere in the country, people say leave them alone, we don’t want any trouble. But I think the game has changed. The rules of the game have changed.

“For every action, there will be an opposite and equal reaction.
I knew that the signing of the accord was useless and that the president subjected himself to sign such an accord. For me, it was out of place for a President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of a country [to sign that paper]. But the president is a humble person. He does things that even marvel some of us and make us sometimes to be very angry.

“To be frank, I was very angry on that day they were signing it. The president has sworn to protect the lives of every Nigerian. So, why would he after taking a constitutional oath subject himself to another oath?"

Asari, who addressed newsmen in Abuja, said Nigerians should prepare for more violence in due course

APC meeting to pick Buhari's Vice ends in Deadlocked

National leaders of the All Progressives Congress hit a deadlock at the Rivers State government lodge in Abuja in a meeting convened to choose a Vice Presidential candidate for the 2015 presidential election.

Sources at the meeting said the deadlock arrived after governors within the party rejected the candidature of Bola Tinubu as well as Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, a former Lagos State Attorney General.

Tinubu was said to be absent at the rowdy meeting but the presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, was in attendance but did not utter a word throughout due to the tensed nature of the meeting.
After the meeting reached a deadlock, a committee of six leaders chosen from the geo-political zones was set up to resolve the logjam, but after several hours of meeting, they also failed to agree on a candidate.

Some members of the committee are Chief Bisi Akande (Southwest), Dr. Chris Ngige (Southeast), Danjuma Goje (Northeast) and Bukola Saraki (Northcentral).

The meeting then dispersed with a final directive to Buhari to go ahead and choose whomever he deems fit as his Vice Presidential candidate.

Buhari would most likely pick a VP candidate from Lagos.

Ambode’s emergence was a pre-orchestrated drama – Tokunbo Wahab, APC guber aspirant kicks

They have started...lol. APC governorship aspirant, Tokunbo Wahab is kicking against Ambode's emergence as APC Gubernatorial candidate for Lagos following yesterday's Primary election. Find a press statement below
Barrister Tokunbo Wahab along with ten other aspirants has expressed his displeasure about the manner in which the governorship primaries which took place today at Onikan have been conducted.
The primary election and the process that goes with it were shrouded in secrecy and unprecedented bare-faced irregularities.
In the words of the aspirant, if APC, a party in the fore front of the Change Movement could subject itself to a shoddy, suspicious preparation, what then is the moral justification for blaming INEC regarding the flop in the Voter Registration and PVC distribution in Lagos State?

He stated emphatically that his position and that of the 10 aspirants have been consistent in the last few weeks from various consultative meetings. These include:
 - Provision of adequate notice should be given to all aspirants prior to the primaries as provided by party and INEC constitutions and

- that delegates' list should be provided to all well before time as well.

He said, *my agent did not receive the so-called list until early hours of this morning*.  As at today, even as the charade referred to as Primaries was going on, it was not clear if we were using the 20 LGAs or 57LGA and LCDAs.

"We made our position known to the national leadership yesterday and we only attended today to observe and possess proofs of various irregularities."

"I can say categorically, that what happened today was not a primary but a pre-orchestrated drama. We shall be making our positions known to the party and INEC within the next few hours and we shall pursue this to a logical, legal conclusion."

PDP Has Destroyed Nigeria, says Buhari

Leading presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammad Buhari has said that there are enough evidences on ground to indicate that the 15years of PDP’s administration in Nigeria has been disastrous for the country and her people.

Buhari stated this in Zamfara State capital, Gusau at weekend during his meeting with the APC delegates for the presidential primaries.

General Buhari, who received a rousing welcome from the people of the state, explained that one of the major economic disasters of the PDP misrule is the neglect of the nation’s power sector which represents the life wire of every sector of the economy.

He said apart from this, the PDP has over the years turned the country into a colony of corruption where dishonest government officials were not only let free, but were openly celebrated.

The presidential aspirant charged every citizen of the country to keep political, sectional or any other sentiment aside and “assess our current situation and make an honest, unbiased judgement”, explaining that this will give Nigerians a clear view of the dangers we are plunged into by the PDP’s 14 years misrule of the country.

He called on Nigerians irrespective of their differences “To think Nigeria first before any other sentiment.” According to him, the survival of the nation is paramount and uncompromising to every citizen.

“My primary mission is to offer my best as emergency sacrifice to employ timely measures to reverse the drift in our social and economic glory”, he emphasized.

“We must not allow this country to perish”, he warns, with a caution that Nigeria is heading to collapse and unless “we all put hands on deck to salvage it, history will never forgive us” he said.

Kebbi State House of Assembly Impeaches Speaker at Night

Democracy is turning upside down in Nigeria, and almost everyone has adopted "sidon look" posture.

As you read this, the Speaker of Kebbi House of Assembly, Hon. Habib Musa Jega has been impeached. And a man, Hon. Mohammed Shalla Gwandu has been sworn-in by the clerk of the House, Shehu Usman Randali, as the new Speaker.

The impeachment, which took place around 10:25pm at the House of Assembly in Birnin Kebbi was signed by 16 members out of 24 members of the House.
The impeachment is coming barely two days after news came out that 17 members of House are planning to dump the PDP and join the APC.

Shortly after the swearing of the new speaker, Hon Mohammed Shalla Gwandu thanked the House for the trust they had in him and promised to work harmoniously with all members and the state government.

“I thank all the members for the confidence they have in me and promise to wok harmoniously with both the state government and members of the House so that our people will reap dividends of democracy,” he said.

Hon Abdullahi Garba Fana representing Dandi constituency told news men that the House sat and reviewed the performance of the former leader and concluded that the impeached speaker was incompetent to continue as their leader.

When asked to mention the impeachable offences committed by the ex-speaker, he said “The reason is just incompetence and members have no confidence in him any longer.”
Impeachment close to mid-night? Nigeria nawao!

We Join APC To Get Back Our Oil Wells from GEJ –Amaechi

Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has said that he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) so as to get back oil wells belonging to Rivers State that were handed over to Bayelsa and Akwa-Ibom states by the Presidency.

Amaechi disclosed this when he visited the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) for an interactive session with students of the university and sensitise them on voter registration and collection of permanent voter cards which is scheduled to commence on Friday.
The governor said, “Our oil well in the Kalabari area, they have taken, so the basic quarrel is that the federal government is not addressing our problems.
So, we said to the federal government, if you have not done those projects and you have done nothing for Rivers State, why do we need to remain in PDP and work with the federal government? So we left PDP and joined APC.
“We joined APC because we need to get back our oil wells. So, one thing you owe us is to go and collect your card. When you collect your card, you must help us do one thing – don’t vote for PDP.

“Now, the reason why there is a disagreement between us and the federal government is one question we have always been asking in public – can a federal government led by our own brother who comes from Bayelsa, show us one project that they have done in Rivers State.

"And I said again to the federal government, if you can’t show us one, show us half, that is, the one you started and you abandoned and you forgot it; none, and Rivers State gave our president the highest vote in the country, 1.8 million votes.

“If nothing else, repair our airport. What have we done against the president that an airport they started the same time with Abuja, with Lagos, with Enugu has not been finished. They have finished Lagos, they have finished Abuja."
