(APC) are set to hold a meeting today, December 4, to decide which
governorship aspirant will represent the party at the 2015 elections.
About
3000 delegates of the APC are expected to vote at the Onikan Stadium to
choose a frontrunner for the party at the upcoming polls.
This was disclosed via a statement released by the state chairman of the APC, Henry Ajomale. It reads:
“The
leadership of the party wishes to inform you that accreditation starts
by 9am while voting proper kicks off by 12 noon. Over 3,000 delegates
are expected at the venue for the exercise.”
“All logistics have been put in please, including adequate security and traffic management for a hitch-free exercise.”
There are currently 12 aspirants gunning for the opportunity to represent the APC in the 2015 Lagos governorship elections.
They
are: Former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Leke Pitan, a former Attorney
General and Commissioner for Justice, Olasupo Shasore, the current
Commissioner for Works, Obafemi Hamzat and a former Accountant General
of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode.
Others are the
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the Senator
representing Lagos-West senatorial district, Ganiyu Solomon, a former
aide to Tinubu, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, Mr. Adekunle Disu, Mr. Wahab Tokunbo,
Mr. Olanrewaju Ope and a former Commissioner for Rural Affairs, Mr. Tola
Kasali.
Ambode and Shasore are believed to be the
top contenders as while the former reportedly enjoys the support of
former Governor and APC chieftain, Bola Tinubu, the latter is said to be
the choice of incumbent Governor, Babatunde Fashola.
